Final SU Update of the Year!

Winter Fest –

Last Monday we launched our first batch of tickets for Winter Fest 2026! This is a joint project with the University and allows students to enjoy a week of fun, free, well-being–related events to ease you back into uni life in January.

We have over 20 events for you to take part in; from Lego-building competitions to big prize nights and free donut giveaways, we really do have something for everyone.

The first batch of tickets has been popular, with many selling out already. If you haven’t managed to get a ticket, don’t worry! We have more tickets launching at 10 am on Monday 15th December and Thursday 8th January.

Mapped out -

As part of Daniel’s Mapped Out series launching in January, we’re collecting anonymous student experiences to help map Norwich through the eyes of our liberation groups. We want to hear about the routes you use, the places that feel safe (or not), and the cultural or community spaces that matter to you.

Your insight will directly shape the digital content coming next term, from Safe Routes to Lived Voices and Culture & Community Spots. If you’d like to contribute, you can share your thoughts anonymously using the form below. It only takes a minute and will help us build a more honest, representative map of the city for everyone.

Daniel's workshop -

Daniel’s kicking off 2026 with something a little different… and definitely a lot more fun.
On Tuesday 28 January, 12:00PM–1:30PM in DS3, he’s running “This Is 100% NOT a Workshop: Housing & Housemates”, an interactive, game-filled session designed to help you feel confident with renting, contracts, bills, and choosing future housemates without the boring lecture energy.

This year, we’re also adding a short, clear, myth-free section on the new Renters’ Rights Bill, what’s actually changed, what protections students now have, and how it affects house-hunting in Norwich. No jargon. No legal waffle. Just what you need to know before you sign anything.

Expect Bingo, myth-busting, housing disaster scenarios, quick-fire contract tips, and a Q&A with Shelter. Plus, five house-themed prizes to win.
Bring your friends (trust us, it helps), take part in the chaos, and get ahead before the housing season kicks off.

This session is also a pre-cursor to our big Housemate Hunting event in February, so if you’re thinking about renting next year, this is the best place to start.

Mocktail recipes -

Fancy a mocktail? The SU is currently doing some ongoing work on alcohol harm reduction, and as part of that our Project Assistant, Becca, has produced a fantastic Mocktail Recipe Book with thirteen mocktails to suit all taste buds and you can get it for free. All you have to do is spot the gingerbread posters around campus from Tuesday, take a selfie, and come show us in the SU Offices in Bank Plain!

Message from your presidents –

Hi all,

As this is our last SU email for 2025, we wanted to use this as a chance to thank you all for your incredible work this year.

Term One has been wild for us here in the SU, but in the best way possible. We have seen a rise in student engagement, and we couldn’t be happier.

Our course reps have come in full force and have worked so hard to share the views of students. It means so much to us to have students advocating for themselves and their course mates. We appreciate you sharing your feedback with us, this helps us shape the direction of the SU.

We are so proud of our societies and the growth we have seen this year. We now have 47 societies and over 100 students running these amazing groups. It’s been a real treat to watch our societies thrive, create communities, and host new and unique events. We can’t wait to see what you all do in 2026.

Thanks to a successful October by-election, we now have a part-time officer team of 11 students. They have already provided valuable insight to the SU and have worked hard to plan and host a number of events. We know they already have some amazing things planned for 2026 and can’t wait to share them with you all.

You have probably seen some of the things we’ve been up to, but in case you’ve missed anything, we will be posting a round-up on our Instagrams so go give us a follow. @presidentdaniel_nasu @presidentindi_nasu

We have been working hard to plan for 2026 and have some great things lined up. It means so much to us to have your support, and we are committed to improving your student experience. Please always feel free to reach out to us; we are here to help, and we love hearing from you.

So, all that is left to say is: well done for completing Term One. We hope you have a lovely winter break and find some time to relax over the holiday. We look forward to seeing you in 2026.

From Indi and Daniel
