Stay for May – A Month of Fun Before You Say Goodbye!
Exams are nearly over and the summer holidays are just around the corner—but before you head off, we’ve got one more reason to stick around.
Actually… we’ve got seven! This May, the Students' Union is bringing you a packed calendar of events to help you unwind, celebrate, and make the most of student life in Norwich.
We’re calling it Stay for May—and we hope you’ll do just that.
🍺 Pub & Paddle – 13th May
A Norwich staple! Paddle down the river with your friends and finish up at a local pub for a proper post-exam cool down.
This is an exclusive event for third-year students—a perfect way to mark the end of your time at uni in true Norwich style.
🍦 Ice Cream Day – 16th May
To celebrate hand-in day for Years 0, 1, and 2, we’re giving away 1,000 free ice creams (yes, with a flake!) to help everyone cool off and enjoy a sweet treat. We’ve also got ice lollies for those who don’t want Ice Cream. All students are welcome to join the celebration—so come along even if you’re not handing anything in! Just bring your Student card to pick up your ice cream or lolly.
You’ll find our ice cream vans outside Duke Street Riverside and The Monastery.
🎁 Big Prize Bingo – 20th May
Not your average bingo night. This ticketed event features three rounds of bingo, each with big prizes up for grabs. Expect a mix of music, fun, and friendly competition.
🖼️ Print Swap – 23rd May
Got artwork? Want artwork? Bring your prints and swap with other student creatives in a relaxed, social setting. A great way to share your work, get inspired, and go home with something new.
🏅 SU Awards – 27th May
Join us for a night of celebration as we recognise the amazing contributions of students, societies, and volunteers who’ve made a difference this year. A chance to dress up (or not!), take pride, and applaud your peers.
🛍️ Student Market – 28th May
Come browse and support the talent on campus. This market is all about students selling their artwork—so if you’re after a unique piece or want to find your new favourite artist, this one’s for you.
🌤️🕺 Summer Ball – 30th May
The Summer Ball is here! Held at Norwich Arts Centre, it's a night of music, dancing, food, and celebration.
Your ticket includes entry and food, and we’ll have a DJ spinning tracks all night, plus photographers on hand for the perfect end-of-year pics.
Wear whatever makes you feel good—whether that’s something fancy or jeans and a t-shirt. Just bring your photo ID, and remember to drink responsibly.
So don’t rush off just yet—Stay for May and make it a month to remember. Whether you’re saying goodbye to uni or just finishing up another year, there’s something for everyone. Let’s end the year together—with ice cream, art, music, and a whole lot of celebration.
