Nominations are now open for our SU Elections 2026. There are lots of positions available at this election, from full time paid president roles to part time voluntary officer and trustee roles, all of which can broaden your skillset and provide you with the tools and resources to make change at Norwich Arts.
Do you know someone who would do a good job? Maybe your student rep has done great things this year, or a society officer has created a fantastic community. Maybe you have a friend who has a lot of great ideas and would be a great SU Officer. This role represents the student body on academic issues and is the main point of contact for academic concerns. They work with and support student reps and are held to account by the Academic Affairs and Representation Council. They also sit on the University’s Board of Governors, championing student voice at the highest level of the University. Besides this, they work on their manifesto goals and promises, leading campaigns projects and initiatives that the student body elected them on. This is a full time paid role, with a salary of £28,031. If you are graduating in July 2026 you would have the job waiting for you once you finish your studies. If you are not graduating in July 2026, but would otherwise be due to resume your next level of study in September, being elected means you would have to take a year out of your studies to fulfil the responsibilities of this role.
This role looks acts as a main point of contact for student welfare and inclusion. They oversee student led clubs and societies and lead efforts to address welfare and inclusivity, by working with Part Time Officers. They chair the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Council which implements the SU’s inclusion and equity strategies and supports campaigns for marginalised student groups. Besides this, they work on their manifesto goals and promises, leading campaigns projects and initiatives that the student body elected them on. There are thirteen part time voluntary officer roles covering a range of different remits. Part Time Officers work for the interests and concerns of the people they represent – this can mean running campaigns, putting on events, providing services or anything that would help these students. You don’t need any experience in anything like this – we’ll provide you with loads training and support you in anything you want to do. Part time officers also get a campaigns budget which pays for their activity. They attend relevant SU meetings to hear directly from students and work on their manifesto goals. This role is what you make it and will fit around your availability but probably requires 1 or 2 hours work a week. The roles are:
We also have a Year Zero Officer and a Postgraduate Officer who are elected in October elections.
Please note that for the first six roles you must self identify as belonging to the group which that role represents.
For the International Students Officer, you must be a student that is not a Home student. For the Mature Students Officer, the Office for Students defines a mature student as one who is 21 or older at the start of their undergraduate course, or 25 for a postgraduate course. For the Undergratue Officer position, you must be enrolled onto an Undergraduate Degree course during the 2026/27 academic year.
This role it on the University Council, the highest committee of the University alongside experts from various sectors and the Senior Leadership Team, as well as the President of Education and Representation. They champion the student voice on big decisions and develop a wide range of skills, from negotiation to public speaking to developing your understanding of Higher Education, all highly transferrable skills that will stand out on your CV. This is a truly unique experience, and throughout your time as a Governor you will receive training and support from University and SU Staff.
This role sits on the SU Trustee Board, along side industry experts and the SU Presidents. The Trustee Board has oversight of the Union and works to ensure it is operating legally, and your role within this is to ensure that the SU always places students at the centre of everything it does. Make yourself stand out with a unique set of transferrable skills and expand your understanding of niche areas like charity law and governance, which will be beneficial on your CV!

6th March @ 12pm - This is the final deadline for nominations. The SU cannot accept any nominations submitted after this time.
9th March till 13th March - This is a week where candidates finalise their campaigns. It will include a Candidate Briefing on the 11th where the SU goes over the rules of the election and gives you an opportunity to finalise your manifesto ahead of the deadline which is on 13th March at 11am.
16th March @ 12pm - All students can now begin voting for who their next student leaders are and all candidates can begin campaigning.
20th March @ 12pm - The voting portal will automatically close. Students and Candidates have until 1pm to make any complaints. After this, the count will begin.
20th March @ 4pm - the election is over, and your Student Leadership team has been elected! The results will first be announced to candidates in private and then to all students via social media and an announcement in the SU Loft.
