We want this role to be open and up to your interpretation and creativity, with continuous support and guidance from SU Staff and Officers where needed.

We want to know all our students - and we want someone to help us achieve this: someone who can help us find out what drives our students, what they want from us, how they experience university, and ultimately help us develop our services. As part of the application process we would like you to tell us about some of the ways you would work towards this goal if you got the job, what support you'd need from us, and how we can improve our student engagement.

Some points you may want to touch on in your pitch is how we can improve engagement with students through surveys, focus groups and SU events or what you think the SU has done wrong or well so far. Most importantly, we want to hear your unique and creative suggestions for other ways we can speak to students that we have not yet done.  You can present your pitch however you want, and if you have any questions you can contact g.heaney@norwichuni.ac.uk for a chat.

Imposter syndrome kicking in?

Impostor Syndrome is the overwhelming feeling that you don't deserve your success. It can convince us that we are not as intelligent, creative, or talented as we may seem. It often strikes when applying for a job, and has long been thought to disproportionately affect marginalised groups.

Experience of the relevant areas of work, or any work, is not necessary. Applications are assessed holistically.

If you think you could make a difference in this role but are unsure of anything about it why not arrange an informal conversation and we’ll help you decide whether you’d like to apply. To do this email our Managing Director, Arran Cottam, on a.cottam@norwichuni.ac.uk

Typical Working Day

These roles will be office based with some opportunities to work remotely. We are also open to discussion how hours will be split across the week; we welcome flexible working arrangements so that you can fit this role around your studies and other commitments. We understand the importance of your studies, and we will work towards fitting the job around your studies rather than your studies around the job. Some roles will require ‘out and about’ work, on University grounds, engaging with students, supporting events or creating content with our SU Presidents. Norwich Arts SU is proudly a developmental organisation, and while there will be some set work outlined by the post holders manager - related to supporting key services - there will also be time allocated for your development. There will be opportunity to pitch and develop independent projects that fit into your own developmental goals and interests, that sit within the Union’s mission. Post holders will be able to discuss any potential projects with their line manager.
