Hi! I'm Henry, a Year 3 Architecture student and current Undergraduate Officer, and I'm running for President of Education and Representation to strengthen communication between students, lecturers, and the university. Through my experience as a student representative, I've seen how gaps in communication can impact student satisfaction and support. My campaign focuses on creating regular student-lecturer forums, introducing a transparent feedback system, and empowering student representatives to ensure every voice is heard. I also aim to build a more united university community through networking opportunities, collaboration across courses, and inclusive initiatives. My vision is a university where students and staff work together to create a more supportive, transparent, and connected academic environment.
Jack Simnor (he/him)

Creating a University that reflects your views
I plan to help align the university's actions with the views of the student body by taking a strong stand against AI, creating more opportunities for cross-course collaboration, displaying students' work through pictures and murals, and starting a student bar to create a space for for all to enjoy.
With me as your president you will be able to attend a university that is supportive, collaborative, accessible, and most importantly creative.

Trinity Drummond (she/her)

Your Journey, Our Community
As a student and Communities Assistant at NASU, I've seen how transformative support and community can be. Every student should feel this.
Listen - Through anonymous welfare surveys, a weekly campus question, the Pantry, and outdoor mental health events. I'll introduce signposting for housing, budgeting and low-cost living information, and ‘Wellbeing boxes’ during deadlines.
Connection - I'll increase cross-society events, build partnerships with Norwich's businesses for meaningful student experiences, and create a map of Norwich's ‘Best Spots.
Volunteering - Connecting students with local businesses/ charities to build real skills, experience, and connections.
This isn't just a campaign. It's a commitment to every student.
Joel Edwards (he/him)

Connection and Unity
For me, being the SU President of community and welfare means that everyone is heard, it is apparent to me there are over 2000 students at NUA and its easy to feel like you're being left out. I aim to create ways for students to interact directly with the Uni as well as as each other across all courses. A problem the Uni faces is there are so many people across different courses with no direct ways to interact amongst each other. By creating an even closer community I hope students can inspire each other and create memories that last forever.
Leah Powell (she/her)

Stronger Communities, Cheerful Days
!! Vote Leah for President !!
I am running for President of Community and Welfare because I believe that there is room for improvement within the support and welfare system at Norwich University Of The Arts.
As President, I will create a safer environment and focus on students' needs and worries surrounding mental health and where to find support. I would also build a tight-knit, inclusive community and space for all.

Rae Shields (he/she)

Community - Safety - Connection
If I am elected as President of Community and Welfare, I want to make it easier for our students to join UEA clubs and societies, provide free self defense training to any student that wants to access it, and run social events that allow our students to develop their creative skills beyond coursework. I want every student to have the confidence to drive change within the uni, within their personal lives, and within the creative industries.

REPRESENT, INFORM, CELEBRATE
If re-elected, I want to continue the work I have achieved in the past, but on a larger scale. I have throughly enjoyed my time working as a student officer and hope to continue my career. Again, I want to allow my work to represent the underrepresented, inform those about issues facing the queer community and celebrate the little achievements and accomplishments that can be gained through positive change.
Sophie Clarke (she/her)

Supporting Women and everyone's needs.
Supporting women through anything, and here to have a listening ear for anything. I’m not here to exclude men, I intend to include everyone through events and societies. I want to create a safe space for women to discuss issues that’s may arise whether it be personal or professional. I want to not only support women but also create events such as charity events supporting women, especially charities such as breast cancer awareness. I also want to create spaces for men to be able to talk as I don’t want to exclude them and I am here to support everyone no matter what.
Eli Jasper (he/him)

I like long walks on the beach, sunsets and supporting the trans community
I aim to make the uni a space in which trans students can feel seen and safe. I plan to create a hub of information where students can find resources on trans healthcare and knowledge on trans related queries. Additionally, I want to host fundraising opportunities such as clothes swaps, where the proceeds can be given to trans charities.
Gray Walsh-Gleeson (he/him)

Uplifting your voice
Hi, I’m Gray and I’m a Y1 Acting student originally from Manchester! I would consider myself a social and approachable person, so I would always be a friendly face for anyone wanting to discuss anything with me. I believe strongly in the importance of community for trans people (and queer people in general) because it’s how we can support and be there for each other. Elements of being transgender can be isolating, so it’s helpful to be able to talk to others who you share experiences with. I am currently the student rep for Y1 Acting, so have previous experience within the SU. I would consider myself a committed and reliable person, who will always be there to listen to and represent you, no matter what.

Katie Ives (she/her)

Katie Ives for International Lives!
I have made it my goal to support international students with handling homesickness and culture shock but also with embracing life in the UK and discovering the rich British culture. I will make it my mission to provide you with support, whether that be in a group of students or even just one on one communication. Additionally, I want to address topics like budgeting, as I know most international students have higher fees to pay than home students. My biggest goal, however, is to be a person that you can trust and talk to about issues and complaints.

Balancing Life and Learning: A Louder Voice for Mature Students
Many of us have jobs, family's and other responsibilities which make our journey at the university more challenging. Having people you can relate to is a big help here at the university. As student officer, I would like to encourage more support within our community.
Please note there are three Undergraduate Officer positions available

As a undergraduate student officer, my goal is to:
- Speak up for the students against generative AI within the creative industry and educate students of the wasteful and unethical process used within it.
- Organise work placements to find part-time disbility-friendly work-placements around Norwich for students struggling to support themselves. As well as providing volunteer work experience to better your chances to find a job.
- Bring more utility, collaberation and positivity to the university

NASU uses the ATV (Alternative Transferable Vote) system for its elections. You will be asked to rank the candidates in order of preference (i.e. your 1st choice, 2nd choice, 3rd choice and so on).
If you wish, you can just select your 1st choice for any of the ballots and leave it at that, however by ranking your preferences for all of the candidates, you are giving your 'next favourite' options a better chance of winning if your preferred candidate is eliminated. You can also stopping ranking at any point if none of the remaining candidates are ones you like. Here is a video explanation of the voting systen.
We are electing two new presidents as well as various part time officer roles. For each role you’ll get a vote and you can vote in as many or as few of these elections as you want. However, for the part time officer roles, you must belong to to group which that Officer represents to vote in the election (eg. you must be an undergraduate student to vote in the undergraduate officer election). If you cannot see an election in which you should be able to vote in, please email us and we can fix this.
All elections also give you an option to vote for Re-open Nominations (RON) if you don’t like any of the candidates available to you.
